Final Project Idea (Part 2)

Final Project Brain Storming (Part 2)

Topic: Food

"Food never arrived on a plate by an accident"
This is the message I aim to demonstrate in my project.

My project on food would capture the disconect between producers and consumers. It will discuss whether our current world needs more conscious eating by presenting the photos of people who are conscious eater, such as the local farmers, vegan/vegetarian, and people who are growing their own food at the allotment.

This is the elevator pitch for the topic for my photographic essay. I believe that it would be an exciting challenge to represent food in a powerful way, taking over the background story of how food arrives on our plate.
I think that it would portray the message that knowing about what we eat is crucial. Nowadays, most people buy their food in supermarkets and tend to look for cheaper products rather than making an ethical choices. This demonstrates how we do not take care of our environment as how we are always focusing on clean, cheaper things. We live in a developing world therefore we leave things behind - regardless of its history or its effect on the environment. Therefore, I aim to show that we should be a concious eater.

I received positive feedback on this idea as the Professor found it to be an interesting approach - particularly inspired by Mathieu Asselin's Monsanto Project. It was also suggested that I could capture the disconnest between producers and consumers by taking pictures that contrast local farmers and people who are making ethical choices with people who look for cheaper food.
